Thunder rumbled across Venus,
making the frightening night look clear as day. The sky was bloody red with
puffs of charcoal gray. The ground began to split, then shatter, causing all
buildings to collapse and fall into the unknown.
“Mama, when will this treachery
end?” Earth questioned, her multi colored eyes wide with fright.
“ I cannot keep going,
mother, father is slowing down time as we speak. With that advantage, he is
merely catching my lightning bolts as if it were a game!” growled Air, her hair
transforming snow white.
“Be patient my children, it
will end soon,” replied Spirit soothingly. “Remember, this is all but a
distraction. Let us wait for your brothers to join us, and then we shall start
the ritual. Soon, very soon, I shall destroy him,” she continued.
A huge circle of fire
appeared out of thin air, surrounding Spirit, Earth and Air.
“That’ll keep him” announced
Fire, clapping his hands together. “Mother, I have sealed us in, protecting us
from father.” He added.
Spirit smiled warmly at her
son. “All is going according to plan?” She asked.
Fire was about to speak when
Water materialized in front of fire, making a few splashes here and there.
“Watch it.” grumbled Fire;
smoke curling out of his face.
“With pleasure,” replied
Water sarcastically, flicking his long black hair. “Mama, I have sunk papa in a
sea of my creation, filled with terrifying beasts!” He announced, chest
swelling with pride.
“Kiss up,” muttered Air.
“I heard that.”
“I am proud of all of you, but
now it is time to bid your father goodbye. Let us begin the ritua,l” said
Spirit, eyes twinkling. “Now, please supply me with your energy, I cannot do
this alone” she instructed.
“Are you sure mama? Will
papa finally be leaving for all of eternity?” asked Earth, tugging her long
auburn hair.
“I hope so, my love,”
answered Spirit.
“Were doomed,” mumbled Air,
placing her hand on her mother’s forehead.
Spirit felt the rush of air
leaving her daughter’s fingertips. Her mind was a tornado, filled with whispers
of encouragement and determination. The tornado stopped, supplying Spirit’s
mind with clearness and serenity. The power of air, just a lift of a finger
away, thought Spirit.
“This better work” grunted
Fire, placing his hand own hand on his mother’s forehead.
Spirit felt the heat of fire
emerge through her. She felt braver than ever, and strength spread throughout
her entire body. She craved for vengeance against her so-called husband.
“Step aside, hot head,” said
water, resting his hand on his mother’s forehead.
Spirits body never felt more
alive, she was as calm as ever, her mind bursting with new strategies to use
against her enemy.
Spirit turned her attention
towards Earth. “It is your turn, child, fill me with wisdom and strength, we
cannot do this without you”
Earth turned around, looking
solemn. “Maybe this isn’t the best strategy to use,” she said.
Water looked outraged, and
hurt. “I have gone over this a thousand times you fool! This is the best of the
best! Would you like father to destroy our mother? Would you like him to be
ruler of all humanity? Those mortals wont stand a chance!” he yelled.
“Hush. This is no time to
start acting like children. We shall proceed this step, and all will go
according to plan,” boomed Spirit. Both Water and Earth looked at their feet,
their faces full of shame.
“Sorry mama” they both
mumbled.
Air tried hard not to laugh.
Seeing Water not act like such a-know-it-all was quite a sight.
She failed miserably.
Water gave Air a nasty scowl
and turned around, folding his arms.
“Stop it!” roared
Fire, stomping his feet. The circle of flames grew ten times more intense.
Earth rolled
her eyes and placed her hand on her mother’s forehead, unable to shake the
sinking feeling of something terrible about to happen.
Spirit
blinked. “I know how you feel, my child, but we must go through with this. It
is the only way.” She whispered.
Earth shook
her head, tears stinging the back of her eyes, threatening to come out.
Spirit spread
her arms towards her sides, a hurricane began to appear at the soles of her
feet; she then began to rise and rise until she reached a cloud. “Invisotora”
she whispered. Spirit turned transparent and sat on the cloud. She glanced down
and saw her four children looking up at her. She waved at them, and realized
that, that was useless. Spirit chuckled and called “Wish me good luck and
fortune! This is the fourth step to our ritual, you must give me your blessings,
my children!” Spirit feared this
part the most. She did not tell her children that this might be fatal for her
too.
Air, Fire and
Water mumbled their blessings and stared at Earth who hasn’t said a word.
“Come on! Are
you crazy! What’s wrong with you?! Why are you not listening to mother?!”
yelled Air. “And me!” chimed Water.
Earth ignored
her brother’s comment. “I have a bad feeling about this, sister. Please believe
me, you always have.” Pleaded Earth taking her sisters shoulders. “What if
things go wrong?” she asked fanatically.
Air sighed.
“You’re my little sister, you should listen to me when I tell you this, this
will work. What if you don’t give mama her needed blessing? You’ll spend the
rest of your miserable underworld life asking what if. Now, who gave me that
saying, sister, who did?” Air asked.
“Me?” asked
Fire.
“No dimwit, it
was me,” muttered Water.
“Shut your
mouths, it was Earth; she said it,.” said Air, smiling at her little sister.
“I don’t know,”
said Earth nervously.
“Were running
out of time! Just give her the damn blessing!” roared Fire.
“You don’t
scare me,” growled Earth, looking ferocious in a second.
“Please give
her the blessing,” said Water, inspecting his nails.
Earth muttered
her blessing and looked up.
The other
three siblings looked up. Spirit began to glow. Golden light illuminated the
sky, and spirit once again began to soar.
Spirit spotted
her husband erupting from the black waters.
He did not
spot her.
“By the power
of all the elements, I command you to join and give Tempore a fatal disastrous
fall, entrap him somewhere where he cannot escape! Free us from his wrath!”
Golden energy
shot from Spirits limbs, missing Tempore.
Tempore cackled.
“Is that the best you can do, my sweet? Frankly, I am disappointed.” Tempore
shot purple energy towards his wife. He missed by a beat.
“Pathetic!”
She snarled. Spirit used the power of fire to cast a circle around her enemy,
she then cast another protective barrier, this time air; more oxygen, she
thought. She then directed her thoughts through earth creating a volcano. The
volcano rose form the ground and water sprouted from it, drowning Tempore.
“Look at
mother go!” whistled Fire.
“She can beat
him in her sleep” said Air with admiration.
“MAMA! HE HAS
ESCAPED!” yelled Earth.
Spirit turned
around and found her husband flying right towards her.
She cast a
protective sphere around her, but no use, she was growing weak.
“Malidecta!”
yelled Tempore. The protective sphere weakened.
“A curse
spell? As lord of Magic and Time? I am disappointed,” said Spirit; panic rising
in her chest.
“You’re
turning quite predictable my dear, and alas, this silliness must end. Just give
me the ceptar and this will all be over in a matter of minutes.” Crooned
Tempore.
Spirit closed
her eyes and gave her self a few seconds of self-silence; the volcano she cast
was disappearing. She had to act fast or the endless well will disappear as
well.
That’s it!
“Never,”
Growled Spirit, drawing the last of her powers. She then aimed at Tempore and
shot him straight at the torso.
“Evanescere” yelled Tempore, as he fell and
vanished to the never ending well.
Spirit knew this was going to happen. She looked down on her kids and
gave them her last smile before disappearing into the unknown.
