1. Beginning

Ashes rained down from the sky, smudging the world a precarious shade of grey. It was the ending of something that had never been and the beginning of something that would never be.

They danced, spinning in the fading sunlight as the planet died out. The remaining creature, an old insect that had seen the rise of dinosaurs and the fall of humankind, peered sadly at the sky as it breathed its last. The volcanos constantly erupted,  causing the earth to destabilise and massacre large numbers of people in one turn.

Far away, someone - someone that had escaped the ending and realised the coming events smiled in satisfaction as they saw the insect flailing, seeing its movement slow down as it slowly became limp. Death had overcome the last creature that had managed to overcome all the obstacles and finally the planet, with nothing to hold on to - no life, no meaning, no thoughts; collapsed. Earth imploded in upon itself, taking the mere observer by surprise. Then the explosion billowed outwards into the shield that had been placed around it to avoid it killing the sun. Why kill a star that had so much potential energy to harvest?

He was one of the last creatures in the universe. Last he'd heard, there was only another existing female. After they'd bred, producing multiple babies that would feed off this sun in the solar system, their entire existence would be somewhat stable again. But if the female died, then the universe would hold onto him - the only conscience that it could anchor to. Of course, the suns were alive and healthy however they'd recently started depreciating, causing the remaining populations of the species of the Hradi to start fretting.

Earth was a monumental planet, which was why the observer had been ordered to watch its destruction so that their future generation would be able to understand why everything had happened and for what purpose life had conceded against the inevitable destruction. It was the humans' fault. Always the humans. They couldn't do anything right, and they had no idea what was out there. They'd awakened a creature, of such magnitude that not even the gods of the universe could stop them. And they did try and failed. They'd used all the abilities they'd had and all the while the humans had sat peacefully upon their planet, wondering why the planet's orbit was losing days and why there were so many tragedies occurring. Every single moment they spent communicating with the creature without even knowing it made them significantly dangerous. And soon enough, every species was wiped out. Except theirs - although that was close too.

That was why he was sent to record Earth's destruction. The future universe would cheer for the death of such miserable sops, who'd had nothing better to do in life than to live and waste precious resources which were being sucked up from the sun. Venus had been destroyed by Earth's obliteration and Mars' side which faced the Earth was utterly charred and somewhat melted down. A rumbling sounded, startling the observer into looking at his communication device. And what he saw scared him.

From there, only chaos could ensue. Without warning, a beep sounded, signifying the death of the female. This was the end of the universe, indeed. He couldn't believe that he'd thought there'd even be a chance for them. The whole universe, other than the ignorant Earthlings had allied together to defeat this creature and even they failed. Who was he to think that he could do better? He spun around, convinced that it was behind him, but sighed in relief when he had the knowledge that he would live for a minute longer. In that time however, the creature lashed out, killing the observer on impact, before evaporating into the thread line of space and time itself. From there, no living thing with a soul existed, not even the tiniest of parasites and with that the universe collapsed, not having anything to anchor itself to. Nothing to strengthen the large proportions of the expanse that was now retreating hastily. The non-understandable ways of the outer universe attempted to grab hold of the creature but it slithered away, squirming through another dimension to wreak havoc there. The universe resembled a rubber band, snapping together into a point of singularity. As the universe cursed the humans, so did the lost souls of the different species that had been released. No one understood how the universe worked - all they knew was that although it wasn't something that could be communicated to; it could communicate to you and it had a mind of its own. Dark energy was never a match for gravity. Until now...

All matter in the universe condensed  into one point and suddenly there was a very big bang. With the presence of sweltering heat, the universe sighed in annoyance, realising that it had forgotten its memories again. It'd just have to deal, it reasoned with itself, after all that's what it had done the past million times.

And that's my first day's drabble. It's ridiculous, considering it was a quick write of fifteen minutes. It's 848 words and although I liked the plot line, I have also suggested that the theory of a big crunch is more possible. When you come to think about it... it is.
Your turn now, left-foot-fowl. I haven't edited... apologies.
Allons-y!

  1. Honey, I've posted it (but kept editing it.. stupid edits).

I've promised myself no tumblr today.. which sucks. It's back firing, but I hope I'll manage.

The big bang, huh? That was pretty cool. Especially the universe itself having a soul of its own. Everything seemed alive- and eternal at that.

    Well written, lady. Atta girl!

This is fun! Can't wait till tomorrow (I will soon regret the thirty drabble day promise.. this is just like NaNo WriMo. I WILL FINISH IT DAMN IT.

    1. I commented too. I'll edit mine tomorrow because I need to go to bed now!
Thanks, lovely! I'm glad you liked it - although I'm aware of the multiple mistakes that I've made. But that's alright. That's what you're here for; to be my criticism.

Ahahaha, yes. That you will. Remember the punishments and that should be incentive enough.

      Talk to you tomorrow! :)

But that's no fun! I'm not too amazing at writing humour so it's just me ranting about rainbows and sunshine.
Shit as in you hate it, or you're speechless?

      Don't make me do this...
